Your browser does not support HTML5 video.

Was in the market for a 50-55 inch 4K TV. Read and watched tons of reviews, biased and unbiased. Every single TV had flaws, some minute and some major. Thankfully, I settled for the Philips TV which, trust me on this, is the best 4K Android TV under under 50,000.

Sure, the sound isn’t the best. But, that can be cured using Bluetooth speakers/sound bar/home theatre. The rest of the package gives biggies like Sony/Samsung/LG a tough fight. The picture quality is sublime, and it has all the latest features you need. The list includes dual-band wi-fi, HDR10, Dolby Vision and plenty of storage for your favourite apps.

Philips has even tweaked the menu for more convenience. I really liked that. And, let’s not forget, the TV comes with a 2 year warranty.

All in all, I am totally satisfied with the purchase.

P.S. the video attached with this review was taken from a rubbish phone. So, don’t judge the TV too much! 😁

The picture is superb. It produces vivid accurate colours as this has Philips P5 perfect picture engine which is used in Philips high end OLED tvs.
If you are brand conscious and like to buy a good brand tv rather than a chinese brand tv like Hisense, Mi etc and don’t want to spend a lot, this the tv you are looking for. It has all major features like Dolby Vision, Dobly Atmos with Android TV 9 which is getting continuous update from Philips. On top of that you get 2 years of brand warranty.
Only downside is it has 16W speakers which is not the loudest. It is good for music, news and casual watching. However you can always attach a home theatre or a soundbar to have great experience.
As it has IPS display, so viewing angles are very good. If you are thinking about how blacks are on the screen, they are good too considering there is ambient light in the room. It isn’t a deal breaker though. Best to use it in the living room. Panel is adequately bright that you would want to turn that down a bit. Colours are vibrant. I suggest to turn off default motion smoothness.
Google assistant works pretty smoothly. Navigation through the interface is smooth too. Best part is you can customise settings per each app as well as common settings to all the apps. All 4 HDMI ports supports ARC. Remote build quality is good and works smooth too. Didn’t see any issue with the remote. The TV and remote both had software update which I suggest to install. Auto wifi connection takes about 4 seconds to connect to wifi after tv start up.
Over all, if you don’t want to spend too much on big brands like Sony, Samsung or LG, and don’t want to go for Chinese TV brands, this TV fits the bill.
PS: I haven’t done any gaming on this. So can’t talk about that.

I have been using this TV from the last 1 week. I did not receive any call or message for installation from Philips or any 3rd party, or probably i missed the call. Anyways I was planning to install the Tv on my own as i did not require wall mount. Setting up the Tv, internet connection, Android updates etc. were all smooth.

I was looking out for a budget 43 or 50 inch 4k Tv from premium brands to upgrade from a 5 year old HD ready Tv. The Chinese brands and other brands were ruled out from the beginning. So the options were Samsung, Sony, Panasonic and Philips.

During CRT days i had a 21 and 29 inch Philips CRT Tv, and from experience I knew that Philips picture quality and reliability is top notch. I have used other products from Panasonic and quality is very good, but there were no 2021 Tv models available, so Panasonic was out. The Sony KD-43×74 model was very pricey even for a 43 inch Tv, so Sony was out. Finally it boiled down to the 50 inch Samsung Crystal 4k pro model and this Philips model.

There are no comparison reviews anywhere so made a decision based on certain factors. Samsung is not Android OS, Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos is missing, Price was around Rs 7000 more than Philips.

Philips has Android OS, has Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos, lesser price, and the 2021 Philips models are using the P5 picture engine that is considered very good and are used in their premium higher end Tv’s. All these points and my previous experience with Philips Tv favored buying this Tv.

Unless a good comparison is made between the Philips, Samsung and Sony Tv in this budget range, we will not know which is better. My feeling is that all three Tv’s will be at the same level of quality with pro’s & con’s, with the Philips Tv giving the maximum value for money.

    Picture Quality

Picture quality is Excellent with vibrant colors and images are sharp and clear. I have attached few photos. I am guessing it is an IPS panel. Default picture options are available but it is better to personalize picture setting using the advanced options.

    Audio Quality

Audio quality is pretty good with good dynamic range and clarity. The bass does not sound boxy or over powering. I am not sure why people generally have a bad opinion about inbuilt Tv speakers, or probably in this Tv the audio quality is better than what is seen normally in other Tv’s ! But if you are very conscious about audio, investing on a sound bar or a home theater is good. But i personally don’t see the requirement as the audio quality in this Tv is very good in my opinion.
The Auto Volume Leveler has to be turned on to control sudden loud bursts of audio.

    Other Details

    – Bezel less design looks modern and sleek. Build and materials used are good quality.

    – The legs are made of metal, a plus point. But companies should start providing center stands as a standard, if not we have to change tables. I am using a table that fits a 43 inch Tv and the legs of this 50 inch Tv are at the extreme ends of the table.

    – The remote is quiet long and not very convenient to hold.

    – Voice command works smoothly

I like its overall presence on the wall.. philips bring premium feel. Picture quality is awesome without any setting from my side.. I had a VU full HD and also VU 4K both, HD on YouTube and through set top seems better than VU. 4K HDR signal auto read is there. Colour looks amazing with depth. No screen bleeding I noticed so far… Black look like turned off TV pretty deep black. Red is actually red like natural. Sound is awesome when compared to other in category even with lower wattage speakers. Music sound good on you tube.. Price point is decent when compared with some Chinese competition in the market. Satisfied for now.. You may have to upgrade the software to avoid screen going blank while on set top box.

Apps like Netflix, Hot star, and You tube, are preinstalled and working, blue tooth and wi-fi are functional. Sound is reasonably good. Plays audio and video files on pen drive.Input is only HDMI no RCA input. Has only a VA panel not IPS panel.
